My Best Friend Is A Golden Retriever

I don’t have many friends, but I really prefer it that way. The few I have are loyal, fun, and I can always count on them.

My best friend is the most loyal and fun of all. His favorite activities are sleeping, being outdoors, and playing fetch. Also, he is very social, he likes people and people like him. He likes to be hugged and he will follow you everywhere.

I love him, but I must admit that I am jealous of him.

For him, making friends is very easy, he does it naturally. For me, it is a bit more complicated. He pushes me to do things that he usually wouldn’t dare me to do, you never know where his extroversion will take us.

I really appreciate that, since if it weren’t for him, I’d probably rarely leave my room.

It’s hard to be introverted and anxious. Going out and making plans is an odyssey for me, it takes me a lot of energy and time to do something that many do effortlessly.

If I don’t know each and every one of the smallest details of what will happen, I won’t be able to rest easy. I must know what time we will leave, what time we will arrive, who else will be there, how is the atmosphere of the place where we’ll be. I even like to know how everyone will be dressed, I don’t want to go over-dressed or under-dressed.

If I’m not sure of at least 90% of the information, I cancel the plans and stay home.

Yeah, as you might have guessed, I’m not exactly the life and soul of the party. Oh, and I don’t like surprises either.

My best friend is the opposite. If you ask him out, 9 times out of 10 he will say yes, and the other time he will say hell yes. He doesn’t ask a lot of questions, he just has a good time, he makes new friends all the time and rarely complains.

I envy that ability to feel loosen no matter where or who he is with.

Not only does he feel comfortable anywhere, but he also makes everyone feel comfortable around him.

Like a golden retriever.

I try to see it as healthy envy if that even exists. I try to expand my comfort zone and feel more august even when I have absolutely no control over everything.

And you? Do you have a golden retriever friend or are you that friend?
